What a week! Our volunteers welcomed 150 visitors to the Prestoungrange Gothenburg, who immersed themselves in the stitching and the stories of the Scottish diaspora.

We are grateful to all who took the time to come along for this short-notice opportunity, and to the amazing volunteers from the Battle of Prestonpans Museum who made it all happen amidst all the challenges of building work, road closures and marathons!

Somehow, we managed to fit the entire tapestry into the building, over two floors. On the ground floor, visitors travelled the British Isles, Iceland, the USA and South America in the Willie Park Lounge, before heading to Scandinavia and the Baltic in the main bar. Upstairs, Australasia, Asia and Africa could be explored in the Thomas Nelson Suite, whilst Europe and Canada filled the Lord Mayor’s Bar.

As well as enjoying the Tapestry, visitors were able to chat with volunteers – including regular appearances by our costumed friends from Catching the Past – about the history of the building and its murals too.
