Commonwealth Games Exhibition: India & Pakistan

Scotland had the pleasure of hosting the Commonwealth Games this summer, and next the baton passes to India.
As part of our National Lottery funded celebration of the Glasgow2026 Games, we are holding a special display of the Indian and Pakistani panels of the Scottish Diaspora Tapestry. And where better than in the heart of the community itself, the historic Prestoungrange Gothenburg. There, above the Bombay Bar & Grill, visitors to the Thomas Nelson Suite can browse the panels between 3pm and 6pm Tuesdays to Sundays.
We are hoping to keep the exhibition open as long as we can, so at present there is no closing date!
“USA 250”, Battle of Prestonpans Museum
5 July – 30 August 2026
To mark 250 years since the American Declaration of Independence, the Battle of Prestonpans Museum is hosting an exhibition highlighting East Lothian’s links with the USA.
From Jacobites in the Continental Army to John Witherspoon at the Continental Congress, and from John Paul Jones to John Muir in Dunbar, the exhibition reveals some fascinating connections.
The exhibition also features all of the US panels from the Scottish Diaspora Tapestry, making this an opportunity not to be missed.
“Scotland’s Sporting Diaspora”, Battle of Prestonpans Museum
6 – 28 June 2026
A small but carefully selected group of panels takes us from Scotland to South America, Sweden, China and France. The panels reveal how Scotland has helped spread a range of sports around the world. Coinciding with the FIFA Football World Cup and Scotland’s game with Brazil, discover how Scots carried the game to South America in the 19th century.
Open 11am-4pm at weekends. Free entry.
Museum nan Eilean, Benbecula

A special selection of 40 panels is on display on the Hebridean island of Benbecula.
They tell stories from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, England, France, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Norway, Palestine/ Israel, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Tristan de Cunha, and the USA.
